From Broke to Building a Real-Estate Empire
What started in one of the poorest neighbourhoods of The Hague has transformed into a real-estate journey worth millions. For Amir Ali Raja, known on Instagram as Amir.real_estate, life has been nothing short of a gritty climb from hardship to success. Growing up in poverty, Amir always felt drawn to buildings and properties. While working in his father’s small shop in the local market, he secretly harboured the ambition to rise above his environment. He believed early on that real estate held the key to a better life.
He once called himself “broke and lost,” but also “a father with a dream.” That dream wasn’t just about earning money — it was about security, legacy, and true economic freedom for himself and for others who came from backgrounds like his.
In 2018, with only modest savings, Amir tried buying an investment property. Eight months passed, and property prices surged while he still owned nothing. That moment sparked a revelation: if he couldn’t find a good deal, he had to create one. So he used the rest of his savings to launch his own brokerage.
Working alone at first, he found creative ways to bring deals to investors. Week after week three to five properties at a time he closed sales. Within 20 months, he built a portfolio of 15 properties. Every dirham he earned was reinvested into new opportunities.
This was only the beginning.
Amir’s ambition eventually led him beyond Europe to the booming real estate market of the UAE. Today, he calls the UAE home, and his portfolio is reportedly worth over 33 million AED. His company, Apex Smart Real Estate, now helps investors realise their property goals, especially in Dubai’s rapidly growing market.
He is no longer just a small-time investor, but a broker connecting global clients to some of the region’s most promising opportunities.
Even as Amir’s wealth grew, he held onto one principle above all: loyalty. Loyalty not only to clients, but to himself. He believes authenticity matters and he regularly turned down deals when the people, the ideas, or the style did not align with his values.
For him, losing a deal isn’t the real loss. Losing yourself is.
This philosophy shaped both his wealth and his reputation.
Today, his team is small but growing about eight people. With systems and automations now in place, they plan to scale further, helping more clients and offering even better services.
His goal is to be remembered not just as someone who succeeded, but as someone who helped lift others from brokenness to financial freedom.
